Our History

Angela and Daniel Downing set up Live Life Care in 1992 with the support from a Pump Priming Grant from Cornwall Council.Back then, Live Life Care was called Night Owl Community Care and was originally established to provide care and support in the evenings and during the night.

Since 1992 Live Life Care has been supporting thousands of people living at home in the Truro and Redruth/ Camborne areas and has been a provider of care services with Cornwall Council and the NHS all of this time.

We are proud to be a true, local family business who put people before profit and we do much community work behind the scenes.Live Life Care also set up Reflections, a non profit social enterprise, to provide day services for people living with dementia. We founded and fund the Purple Angel Pony project and also provide free Cognitive Stimulation Therapy sessions for people newly diagnosed with dementia. We also provide a free befriending service for some of our lonely service users.

Our Quality

Measuring the quality of the services we provide is such an important part of our business. We do this by the following.
We send out regular QA surveys to families and service users.
Our senior team members also are out and about collecting feedback and filling in quality reviews face to face.
Our office team are in regular contact with families and service users by telephone and email.
We investigate all complaints and use these as a way of continually improving on the service we offer.
Every year we compile an annual quality review and our latest one will be published here in Feb 2019.
We are inspected by the CQC,the Care Quality Commission, and our latest report is on our homepage.
We have yearly audits from Cornwall Council.

Our main complaints usually are around the timing of our care visits and these are really very few. We now have an Electronic Call Monitoring system in place so that we can collate this information more accurately. However, managing a mobile workforce of around 100 carers is no mean task !! We are pleased with how many visits are delivered on time considering the traffic, carer sick and annual leave days etc. The work that goes on behind the scenes to do this one can not imagine unless you have worked in a homecare office. We always say allow 30 minutes either side of your planned care visit just in case.
